[브레이크뉴스=양영석 기자] 의령군은 최근 쌀 소비량 감소와 과잉 공급에 따른 문제점을 해결하기 위해 가루쌀 재배단지를 조성해 주목받고 있다.

의령 가루쌀 재배단지는 농식품부의 쌀 적정생산 방침에 따라 역점시책으로 추진하고 있는 가루쌀 생산단지 지원 공모에 선정된 사업으로 의령군 우리밀생산자위원회 영농조합법인 회원 40곳 농가에서 45ha의 면적으로 조성했다.

가루쌀은 기존 쌀과 달리 물에 불리지 않고 밀처럼 바로 빻아 가루로 만들 수 있는 쌀이다.

수입 의존도가 높은 밀가루 대체에 적합하고 시기적으로 늦은 이앙이 가능해 이모작에 유리한 것으로 전해진다.

정부는 국내 쌀 공급과잉과 밀수입 의존 문제 해결의 대응책으로 가루쌀 보급확대에 적극 나섰고 있다.
