웃음종교는 지난 8월8일 서울시 종로구 낙원동 스타하우스에서 화동의 모임을 가졌다. 이 모임에는 70여명이 참석했다.
문일석 웃음종교 교주는 이날 모임의 연설에서 “웃음종교 이론을 창안, 웃음 이론을 보급해온 필자는 다가오는 시대를 '웃음문명(smile civilization)' 시대라고 정의합니다. 대결주의가 아닌, 서로 협력하는, 모든 인류가 서로 웃으면서 지내는 '웃음문명(smile civilization)'의 시대로 이전해야 한다는 것을 주장해온 것입니다”면서 “다가오는 미래시대는 웃음이 통제되지 않는 시대여야 합니다. '웃음문명(smile civilization)'이 활짝 꽃 피워야 합니다”라고 강조했다.
이어 “오늘날 인류가 살고 있는 21세기는 웃음이 최고의 정치 가치로 등장해야 할 필요성이 있습니다. 인류가 개발한 전쟁 무기 가운데 원자폭탄이 있습니다. 세계 각국이 보유한, 1945년 일본 히로시마에 투하됐던 원자폭탄 보다 폭발력이 강한 원자폭탄의 수는 수만 개에 달합니다. 만약, 이런 무기를 활용할 전쟁이 일어난다면, 인류는 파멸할 것입니다. 원자폭탄이라는 무기를 보유한 국가가 최종으로 할 일은 화합(和合)일 것입니다. 이런 화합은 '웃음의 협상'으로만 가능하다고 생각합니다”고 덧붙였다.
이날 모임에서는 한화갑 민주당 전 대표, 강효백 박사, 하정열 예비역 장군, 이참 전 관광공사 사장, 이정래 박사, 김두년 전 중원대학 총장, 최부득 박사, 문공열 박사, 도지예 박사, 김주덕 변호사, 권기식 한중도시우호협회 회장 등이 축사했다. 이효정 시 낭송가의 시 낭송, 장만호 작가의 자작시 ‘똘강’ 낭송도 있었다.

인간은 지구 위에 살고 있는 모든 생물 가운데 가장 잘 진화된 고등 동물입니다. 그리하여 인간만의 고급문명을 발전시켜왔습니다. 인간이 지닌 내재(內在) 가치(價値) 중에서 가장 귀한 게 무엇일까요? 귀한 것 중의 하나는 비물질(非物質), 눈에는 안 보이나 소리와 표정으로 확인할 수 있는 '웃음'이라고 생각합니다.
필자는 지난 2021년 10월16일자 브레이크뉴스에 올린 “인류멸망의 대결문명 쇠퇴(衰退)-인류공존의 '웃음문명 시대' 개막”이란 제목의 글에서, 미래문명에 대해 논한 바 있습니다.
