브레이크뉴스 문홍철 기자= 전국경제인연합회가 22일 임시총회를 개최해 기관명을 ‘한국경제인협회(한경협)’로 바꾸고, 새 회장에는 류진 풍산그룹 회장을 선임했다.
전경련은 이날 정관을 개정해 기관명을 변경하고, 목적사업에대·중소기업 동반성장 사업과 ESG 등 지속가능성장 사업을 추가했다.
동반성장, ESG 등을 정관에 명시적으로 규정함으로써 새롭게 출범할 한국경제인협회가 기업의 사회적 책임을 최우선 과제로 삼겠다는 의지를 명확히 한 것이다.
이날 총회에는 류진 회장을 비롯해 김윤 삼양홀딩스 회장, 이웅열 코오롱 명예회장, 이장한 종근당 회장, 조현준 효성 회장, 구자은 LS 회장, 이희범 부영주택 회장 등이 참석했다.
류진 회장은 취임사를 통해 “G7 대열에 당당히 올라선 대한민국을 목표로 삼겠다”며 “글로벌 무대의 퍼스트 무버가 되는 것이 기업보국의 소명을 다하는 길이다. 이 길을 개척해 나가는 데 앞으로 출범할 한국경제인협회가 앞장설 것이다”고 포부를 밝혔다.
또한, 류진 회장은 ‘한국경제 글로벌 도약’의 길을 열고, 국민과 소통하며 함께하는 동반자가 되는 한편, 신뢰받는 중추 경제단체로 거듭날 것을 약속했다.
특히, 전경련은 정경유착 등을 철저히 차단하기 위한 내부통제시스템인 윤리위원회 설치를 정관에 명시적으로 규정했다. 위원 선정 등 윤리위원회 구성과 운영사항 등 시행세칙 마련은 추후에 확정한다는 계획이다. 사무국과 회원사가 지켜야할 ‘윤리헌장’도 이 날 총회에서 채택했다.
류진 회장은 “어두운 과거를 깨끗이 청산하고 잘못된 고리는 끊어내겠다”며 “윤리경영을 실천하고 투명한 기업문화가 경제계 전반에 뿌리내리도록 하겠다”고 말했다.
이어 “그 첫 걸음으로 윤리위원회를 신설하겠다”며 “단순한 준법감시의 차원을 넘어 높아진 국격과 국민의 기대에 부응하는 엄격한 윤리의 기준을 세우고 실천할 것이다”고 덧붙였다.
한편, 지난 5월 18일 발표한 혁신안을 이행하기 위한 ‘전경련과 한경연 간 통합합의문’을 이날 채택함으로써 기존 한국경제연구원의 조직, 인력, 자산, 회원 등을 모두 승계해 글로벌 싱크탱크로 거듭나기 위한 첫 걸음을 내딛었다.
전경련은 이번 통합의 결과 4대 그룹도 새 단체 한국경제인협회 회원이 된다고 전했다.
