“혹명나방·흰등멸구 적기 방제해야”

【브레이크뉴스 영덕】박희경 기자=영덕농업기술센터는 최근 관내 벼 2모작 및 늦모내기 지역과 질소비료 과다 시비 된 논을 중심으로 혹명나방과 흰등멸구의 밀도가 급증함에 따라 농가의 피해 최소화를 위해 적기 방제를 당부했다.

군에 따르면 혹명나방은 보통 6~7월경 중국에서 기류를 타고 날아오는 주요 벼 비래해충으로, 7월부터 9월까지 활동한다.

성충이 날아와 산란하면 유충이 벼 잎을 좌우로 길게 말아 그 속에서 잎을 갉아 먹어 잎끝이 백색으로 변하고 발생량이 많은 경우 벼 이삭의 등숙에 영향을 주어 수확량 감소와 쌀 품질 저하의 원인이 된다.

흰등멸구 역시 비래해충으로, 볏대를 흡즙해 피해를 주며, 특히 출수 이후엔 벼 이삭을 흡즙해 흑점미를 유발시키기도 한다.

올해의 경우 지속적인 고온다습한 기후와 장마, 태풍의 영향으로 전국적으로 혹명나방의 밀도가 적게는 2배에서 많게는 9배까지 높게 나타나는 실정이다.

다행히 영덕군 지역은 7~8월 2회에 걸친 본답 벼 병해충 공동방제 등의 선제 대응으로 그 밀도가 아직은 낮은 편이지만 여전히 2모작, 늦모내기 지역과 질소비료 과다 시비한 지역을 중심으로 밀도가 높게 예찰되고 있어 농가의 각별한 주의와 적기 방제가 필요한 상황이다.

황대식 농업기술과장은 “관내 벼 작황은 현재 평년 이상으로 양호한 상황”이라며, “센터에서 지속적인 예찰과 농가 지도를 시행하고 농가에서도 혹명나방과 흰등멸구에 경각심을 갖고 적기 방제를 시행해 한해를 풍년으로 잘 마무리할 수 있길 바란다”고 당부했다.
