브레이크뉴스 문홍철 기자= 최근 광복절 특별사면으로 취업제한이 풀린 이중근 부영그룹 창업주가 3년 만에 경영에 복귀했다.
부영그룹은 30일 오전 이중근 창업주의 취임식을 가졌다고 밝혔다.
이 창업주는 이날 취임식에서 "대내외적인 경제적 어려움 속에 신속하고 치밀한 의사결정이 어느 때보다 중요할 때"라며 "우리 부영그룹은 국민을 섬기는 기업으로 책임있는 윤리경영을 실천하여 국민들의 기대에 보답해야 할 것"이라고 강조했다.
부영 관계자는 "그룹의 창업주이자 대주주인 이중근 회장의 경영복귀로 그동안 미진하던 사업들이 새로운 활력으로 진행될 수 있을 것으로 보이며 그룹 임직원들이 크게 환영하고 있다"고 전했다.
부영그룹은 대부분의 건설사가 수익성이 낮고 부정적인 사회 인식 때문에 기피해온 임대주택 사업을 위주로 하고 있다. 최근까지 약 30만호를 공급했는데, 이 중 23만호가 임대아파트다. 부영측은 이 회장의 뚝심있는 경영으로 부영그룹이 명실상부한 기업으로 성장했다면서 서민들의 주거사다리 역할을 해오며 내 집 마련에 공헌한 바가 크다고 자평했다.
또한 이 회장은 기업가로는 이례적으로 역사 알리기에도 앞장서고 있다. 2013년 우정문고를 설립해 ‘6·25전쟁 1129일’, ‘광복 1775일’, ‘미명 36년 12768일’, ‘여명 135년 48701일’, ‘우정체로 쓴 조선개국 385년’ 등 5종의 역사서를 출간하기도 했다.
아울러 부영그룹은 국내외 다양한 분야에서 지속적인 사회공헌 활동을 함으로써 ESG경영을 실천하고 있다. 지금까지 사회에 기부한 금액만 1조원이 넘는다.
이와 별도로 이중근 회장이 고향 마을 사람들과 군대 동기, 친인척 등에게 개인적으로 2650억원을 기부했다는 소식이 전해지며 화제가 되기도 했다.
한편 이 창업주의 부재기간동안 회사를 이끌었던 이희범 현 회장의 회장직은 그대로 유지하기로 했다.
