[브레이크뉴스=양영석 기자] 함안군이 테니스 동호인들의 오랜 숙원사업이었던 전천후 테니스장을 개장해 기상 조건과 주·야간에 관계없이 테니스를 즐길 수 있게 됐다.
기존 야외 테니스장은 경기 개최 시 비가 오는 등의 기상악화에 따라 시설 사용에 어려움이 있었다.
이에 불편을 겪은 테니스 동호인들이 전천후 테니스장 조성을 건의했으며, 군은 지난해 10월부터 사업을 추진해 3일 가야읍 도항리 스포츠타운 내에 전천후 테니스장을 개장하게 됐다.
군은 총 사업비 38억 원을 투입해 기존 야외 테니스장에 5,444㎡ 규모의 막구조물 시설을 설치했으며 테니스 코트 8면 정비, 스포츠 조명 설치, 노후된 펜스 교체 등으로 시설을 개보수해 쾌적한 환경을 조성했다.
군 관계자는 “전천후 테니스장 개장으로 동호인은 물론 군민들의 건강증진과 여가 선용에 기여하고, 각종 대회와 전지훈련팀 유치로 지역경제 활성화에도 도움이 될 것으로 기대한다”고 말했다.
