Yangju Mayor Kang Soo-hyun, Gyeonggi-do, discussed pending issues with Minister Won Hee-ryong to promote the project.
The push to stop at Yangju Station on the GTX-C line seems to have caught the pulse... It should be a continuous push, not just for general elections.
[Reporter Kim Wan-young = Yangju] On the 22nd, Yangju Mayor Kang Soo-hyun visited the Sejong Office of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport to discuss the prompt implementation of major pending projects for the 8th popular election.
At a meeting with Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Won Hee-ryong, Mayor Kang Soo-hyun requested active support for major pending projects such as ▲prompting the Gwangseok District housing site development project, ▲additional stop at Yangju Station on the GTX-C line, and ▲review of changes to the Hoecheon District development plan.
In particular, Mayor Kang encouraged and took measures at the level of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport for LH Korea Land and Housing Corporation, the project implementer, to ensure prompt and smooth progress of the 'Gwangseok District Housing Site Development Project', which is not being promoted due to the real estate recession and predicted low business feasibility. It was suggested that arrangements be made.
Next, Yangju Station on the GTX-C line was added to resolve the traffic imbalance between the eastern and western regions of the jurisdiction caused by the influx of population due to the development of the Yangju Station area, ▲techno valley creation, and ▲Yangju New Town creation, and to expand convenience for citizens living in the western region. He emphasized that ‘stopping’ is absolutely necessary.
In addition, Mayor Kang requested a reexamination of changes to the development plan to create infrastructure sites such as parks in the ‘Yangju New Town Hoecheon District’.
The implementation plan for ‘Yangju New Town Hoecheon District’ was approved in 2008, and construction began in 2014. The first phase of the project will be completed in 2021, and the second and third phases are being promoted with the goal of completion in 2025.
Approximately 26,000 households are scheduled to move in starting in 2022, but they actively expressed to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport that the infrastructure is absolutely insufficient compared to other new cities, and appealed to them to secure infrastructure by reexamining changes to the development plan.
In response, Yangju citizen A said, “As Mayor Kang enters his second year, he seems to be gradually grasping the pulse of city administration better. “I hope that reasonable city administration will be carried out through further communication with citizens,” he said, expressing expectations for the development of Yangju.
Yangju Mayor Kang Soo-hyun said, “It appears that there will be many difficulties in securing national funds due to the government’s sound fiscal management policy and economic changes, but we will do our best to ensure that local projects are promoted without disruption through close communication with government ministries.” .
