브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 최춘식 국민의힘 의원은 26일 제2경춘국도상 가평고등학교 통과 구간의 당초 방음벽 설치 계획이 방음터널 건설로 변경됐다고 밝혔다.
최 의원이 가평고 학생들의 원활한 학습 환경 보장을 위해 방음터널 건설을 강력히 요구했고, 실시설계를 맡은 원주지방국토관리청은 결국 최 의원의 요구를 수용해 약 70억여원을 추가 투입해 방음터널화 하기로 결정한 것이다.
당초 국토교통부는 앞서 기본설계시 시행한 전략환경영향평가 결과에 따라 가평고 통과구간에는 ‘방음벽’ 설치를 계획한 바 있다.
하지만 최춘식 의원은 지난 6월 14일 “제2경춘국도가 현재 실시설계 중인바, 가평고등학교 노선의 도로에 방음벽이 아닌 방음터널을 설치하여 학생들의 원활한 교육환경을 보장할 필요가 있다”고 공식 요구했으며 같은달 27일 원주지방국토관리청 담당자들을 직접 만난 자리에서도 이 같은 내용을 재차 강력히 요청한 바 있다.
결국 원주지방국토관리청은 가평고 구간 241m를 방음터널화하겠다고 결정했으며 이밖에도 저소음 포장 및 저소음 교량 신축이음 반영 등 추가 소음 저감방안을 적극 검토하겠다는 입장을 전했다.
이에 최춘식 의원은 “방음터널화로 인하여 가평고 학생들의 학습 환경이 제고될 수 있게 돼 기쁘게 생각한다”며 “주민들의 민원이 시급히 제대로 해결될 수 있게 계속 노력하겠다”고 말했다.
