Yangju Mayor Kang Soo-hyeon holds an on-site meeting for the Deokgye Reservoir waterfront park development project.
A project cost of 10.5 billion won was invested on an area of approximately 30,000 pyeong... establishing itself as a famous attraction in Yangju City.
[Break News Yangju = Reporter Kim Wan-young] Yangju-si, Gyeonggi-do (Mayor Kang Soo-hyun) inspected the progress of the Deokgye Reservoir waterfront park construction project on the 26th at Deokgye Reservoir, presided over by Mayor Kang Soo-hyun, with about 20 people including Vice Mayor Park Seong-nam and senior government officials in attendance.
On this day, Mayor Kang was briefed on the overall progress of the Deokgye Reservoir Waterfront Park construction project in Deokgye-dong, including the current status and future plans, and shared opinions on improvements and supplements.
Yangju City is promoting the Deokgye Reservoir waterfront park construction project to create a waterfront park at Deokgye Reservoir, which was abolished as an agricultural production infrastructure due to the development of Hoecheon New Town, to provide leisure space for citizens and to be reborn as a local attraction.
Deokgye Reservoir is located at the foot of Doraksan Mountain, has excellent natural scenery, and is adjacent to residential areas such as Hoecheon New Town, so many users can access it within walking distance, so it is expected to become a representative park and green space in the northern Gyeonggi region.
This project to create a waterfront park at Deokgye Reservoir has a project size of approximately 30,000 pyeong and a project cost of 10.5 billion won.
The reservoir was purchased by the city in May 2021, and in August 2022, it was selected for a special situation area development project and received 2.4 billion won from the Ministry of Public Administration and Security.
In addition, in August 2023, an application was made to draft an urban management plan along with reflection in the Gyeonggi-do local finance investment review.
As for future plans, the goal is to place an order for the first-stage circular walkway detailed design service around October and to decide on an urban plan (park) in December.
Mayor Kang Soo-hyun said, “Deokgye Reservoir has geographical characteristics and beautiful and valuable natural scenery such as Doraksan Mountain, so once the waterfront park is completed, it will be reborn as a space loved by citizens.” He added, “Citizens will participate in the Deokgye Reservoir waterfront park construction project in large numbers.” “As there is interest, please put in a lot of effort to create a unique waterside park with lots of things to see,” he emphasized.
