영덕군은 국내 최초로 시도되는 트레킹과 지역 거주를 융합한 ‘청년 뚜벅이마을’ 프로젝트를 통해 2021년 5명, 작년 4명, 올해 4명 등 지역에서 정착하고자 하는 청년들을 꾸준히 유입시키고 있다.
특히 청년들에게 안정적인 주거환경을 제공하기 위해 경상북도와 한국해비타트, 경북사회복지공동모금회와의 협약을 통해 영해면 성내리에 ‘희망의 이동식 청년주택’ 10호를 조성해 운영하고 있으며, 작년에는 행정안전부의 ‘청년마을 공유주거 조성사업’으로 청년들에게 추가적인 주거 공간을 조성하고 있다.
또한 이와 함께 청년들의 활동을 지원하고 지역 발전을 도모하기 위해 경상북도의 청년행복 뉴딜 프로젝트 사업으로 공유 오피스 ‘청년다오소’와 커뮤니티 공간인 ‘청년모디소’도 조성하는 등 청년 지원사업을 의욕적으로 추진하고 있다.
