[브레이크뉴스=주윤한 기자] 고려 말 우리나라에서 처음으로 목화 재배에 성공한 것을 기념하는 목화축제가 산청에서 열린다.
산청군은 오는 22일 단성면 목면시배유지에서 ‘제15회 산청 목화축제 행사’를 개최한다.
이번 행사는 목화의 고장 산청을 알리고 소중한 문화유산인 무명베짜기 직조기술을 보존하고 전승하기 위해 마련됐다.
행사에서는 전통무명베짜기 시연, 한복 패션쇼, 국악공연, 트로트 가수 축하공연 등이 진행된다.
특히 목면시배유지 내 위치하고 있는 목면시배유지 전시관에서는 의류의 역사, 목화의 성장과정, 무명베짜기 전 과정을 재현한 모형 등을 관람할 수 있다.
국가유산 사적지인 목면시배유지는 고려시대 학자이자 문신인 삼우당 문익점 선생이 목화 씨앗을 붓통에 넣어와 장인 정천익과 함께 우리나라에서 처음 목화를 재배한 곳이다.
목면시배유지 앞에 있는 목화밭에서는 목화를 보고 만질 수 있는 색다른 경험을 할 수 있다.
산청군 관계자는 “목화축제는 삼우당 문익점 선생의 애민정신을 기리고 사라져 가는 무명베짜기를 계승하는 의미 있는 행사다”며 “다양한 볼거리와 즐길거리에 참여해 즐거운 시간 가지길 바란다”고 말했다.
