이번 익산 방문은 양 의회의 우호협력 증진을 위한 익산시의회의 초청에 따른 방문으로 지난 3월 익산시의회의 경주 방문에 대한 답방이다.
19일 상호 우호협력 증진을 통해 지역과 지방의회의 발전에 기여할 수 있는 구체적인 방안 모색을 위한 간담회를 개최했다.
이날 간담회에서 익산시의회는 ‘2025 APEC 정상회의 경주 유치 100만 서명운동’ 에 동참하며 경주 유치를 적극 지지했다.
이어 20일 경주시의회는 ‘익산 천만송이 국화축제’ 개막식에 참석해 행사장을 견학하고 올해로 20주년을 맞는 국화축제를 축하했다.
이철우 의장은 “정헌율 익산시장님과 최종오 익산시의회 의장님을 비롯한 의원님들의 환영에 정말 감사드린다” 며 “앞으로도 끊임없는 교류로 두 도시가 더욱화합해 상생 발전히길 희망한다” 고 말했다.
