현대차는 22일(현지시간) 사우디아라비아 리야드 페어몬트호텔에서 사우디아라비아 국부펀드(PIF)와 CKD(반제품조립·Complete Knock Down) 공장 설립을 위한 합작투자 계약을 체결했다고 밝혔다.
한-사우디 투자 포럼에서 진행된 계약 체결식에는 정의선 현대자동차그룹 회장, 장재훈 현대차 사장, 야시르 오스만 알루마이얀 PIF 총재, 야지드 알후미에드 PIF 부총재 등이 참석했다.
현대차와 PIF는 이번 계약에 따라 사우디아라비아 킹 압둘라 경제도시(KAEC)에 연간 5만대를 생산할 수 있는 CKD 합작공장을 짓는다.
합작공장은 2024년 상반기 착공, 2026년 상반기 양산 개시를 목표로 전기차와 내연기관차를 모두 생산하는 등 다양한 차종을 생산할 수 있도록 설비를 갖출 예정이다.
현대차와 PIF는 합작공장 건설에 5억 달러 이상을 공동 투자할 계획이며 공장에 대한 지분은 현대차가 30%, PIF가 70% 보유하기로 했다.
