브레이크뉴스 최애리 기자= bhc그룹의 대학생 봉사단체 ‘해바라기 봉사단’이 유기견 돌봄 봉사를 실시했다.
해바라기 봉사단 7기 봉사단원들은 지난 15일 경기도 고양시 일산에 위치한 유기견 보호소 ‘빅독포레스트’를 방문, 유기견들이 쾌적한 환경 속에서 건강하게 지낼 수 있도록 청소 및 물품 후원 등 다양한 봉사활동을 진행했다.
빅독포레스트는 대형 유기견들의 쉼터로 나이가 많은 노령견이 대부분이며, 유기견들이 새로운 보금자리를 가질 수 있도록 입양 업무도 병행하는 비영리 단체다.
이날 봉사단원들은 이른 아침 유기견 보호소를 찾아 유기견들이 깨끗하고 쾌적한 환경에서 생활할 수 있도록 견사에 대한 청소와 주변 정리를 시작으로 봉사활동을 시작했다. 이어 유기견들이 좋아하는 간식을 나눠주면서 봉사자와 유기견 간 교감을 쌓았다.
이후 보호소 관계자들로부터 유기견별 특징과 주의사항을 듣고 개별적으로 유기견들과의 산책을 진행했다. 산책을 마친 봉사단원들은 보호소 운영에 도움을 드리고자 직접 준비한 강아지 전용 장난감과 청소용품 등을 전달하면서 봉사활동을 마무리했다.
bhc그룹 관계자는 “반려 인구가 천만을 훌쩍 넘어선 가운데 이번 활동이 봉사단원 뿐만 아니라 일반 시민들에게도 동물과의 공존에 대해 다시 한번 생각할 수 있는 기회가 되기를 기대한다”며 “함께하는 사회적 가치 확산을 위해 활동하고 있는 해바라기 봉사단의 7기 활동이 앞으로 잘 마무리될 수 있도록 봉사단 활동을 적극 지원해 나갈 예정이다”고 전했다.
