23일 군에 따르면 사회적기업은 경제적 이윤뿐만 아니라 사회적 가치를 동시에 추구하는 기업으로, 영덕군 관내 사회적기업은 전통주 및 특산물 제조, 돌봄서비스, 청소 및 방역 서비스 등 다양한 영역에서 기업 활동을 펼치고 있다.

그러나 2024년도 사회적기업 재정 지원사업 개편으로 인해 일자리 창출 사업 인건비, 사회보험료 지원사업 등의 직접지원이 종료됨에 따라 기업 운영에 차질이 있을 것으로 예상된다.

이에 김 군수는 회의에 참석한 사회적기업 대표들과 지원 중단으로 인한 대안과 각종 규제에 따른 해법도 함께 모색했다.

이 밖에도 관내 사회적기업의 가치를 알리고 제품과 서비스를 홍보할 수 있는 사회적기업 전용 홍보관을 건립, 미역이나 방풍 같은 지역의 특색을 살린 소재를 활용한 사업 아이디어도 논의됐다.

김광열 영덕군수는 “정부의 지원은 줄었지만, 군 차원에서 조속히 대책을 마련해 사회적기업의 가치와 가능성이 훼손되지 않도록 최선을 다하겠다”고 강조했다.

한편, 영덕군에는 인증사회적기업 6개소, 예비사회적기업 1개소, 마을기업 3개소, 사회적협동조합 6개소, 협동조합 18개소 등의 사회적경제 기업이 활발히 활동하며 취약계층 일자리 제공, 지역사회 통합, 지역경제 활성화 등에 공헌하고 있다.
