[브레이크뉴스=주윤한 기자] 거창군은 오는 11월부터 관내 장례식장 3개소에서 일회용품 대신 다회용기를 사용한다고 26일 밝혔다.
지난해 장례식장에서는 빈소 당 75리터 종량제봉투 평균 15개를 사용했으며 이는 연간 200톤에 달하는 일회용품 폐기물이 배출됐음을 의미한다.
군은 일회용품 폐기물 감축 및 다회용기 재사용 문화 확산을 위해 지난 3월 거창지역자활센터-장례식장 3개소와 다회용기 사용 협약을 체결했으며 다회용기 재사용 촉진 지원 국고보조사업을 통해 다회용기 세척시설 구축, 다회용기 구매 등 다회용기 재사용을 위한 기반을 마련했다.
앞으로 장례식장에서 판매하는 일회용품은 물론 상조회를 통해 받는 일회용품도 사용이 금지된다.
이에 따라 장례식장에서는 밥·국그릇, 접시, 수저 등 다회용기에 음식이 제공되며 사용된 다회용기는 경남거창지역자활센터 에코워싱에서 수거·세척·소독 과정을 거쳐 장례식장에 다시 공급될 예정이다.
다회용기를 사용하는 상주는 일회용품 구매 비용 대신 다회용기 대여·세척 비용을 장례식장에 지급하면 된다.
구인모 군수는 “장례식장 내 다회용기 사용은 연간 200톤에 달하는 일회용품 폐기물을 줄이고 거창군이 탄소중립을 실현하는 데 크게 도움이 될 것이다”며 “다회용기 재사용 문화 확산을 위해 군민의 많은 관심과 적극적인 협조를 바란다”고 당부했다.
앞으로 군은 2024년 공공기관 내 다회용 컵 재사용 사업을 추진해 다회용기 사용을 더욱 확대해 나갈 계획이다.
