세종시의회 김학서 의원은 지난 30일부터 31일까지 양일간 부산에서 개최된 대한민국시도의회의장협의회 ‘지역소멸 대응 특별위원회’ 제3차 정기회의에 참석했다.

1일 세종시의회에 따르면 이날 회의에서 청주대 홍성웅 교수가 ‘도시별 교통문제 해결방안’을 주제로, 경북연구원 안성조 연구위원이 ‘워케이션과 두 지역 살기를 중심으로’라는 주제로 발제하며 교통과 관광 중심으로 지역소멸 문제를 해결하는 방안을 제시했다.

이어 참석자들은 지방소멸위기 대응을 위한 관련 제도 마련 및 다양한 방안 모색 필요성에 대해 자유롭게 논의했다.

김학서 의원은 “지방분권 강화, 지역 일자리 창출, 저출산 문제 해결 등이 지방소멸 위기를 극복할 방안이라고 생각한다"며 "아울러 세종의 ‘행정수도 완성’이 우리나라의 지방인구 소멸 문제를 해소할 수 있는 계기가 될 수 있을 것”이라고 말했다.

또 “인구감소 문제를 해소하기 위해 교육정책, 이민정책에 대해 특위에서 논의해 볼 필요가 있다”고 강조했다.

한편, 지역소멸대응특별위원회는 전국 광역 시·도의원 17명으로 구성돼 있으며 지역소멸 대응 정책개발, 연구, 제도 및 입법 촉구 등의 활동을 수행하고 있다.
