브레이크뉴스 최애리 기자= 공매도가 전면 금지된 이튿날인 7일 코스닥 지수가 급락했다.
이날 한국거래소에 따르면 오전 11시48분 코스닥 시장에 사이드카 조치를 내려졌다.
사이드카는 코스닥150 선물이 6% 이상 상승 또는 하락하거나, 지수가 3% 이상 하락한 후 1분간 지속되는 경우 발동된다.
사이드카 발동 시점부터 5분간 모든 프로그램 매도호가의 효력은 정지된다.
공매도 금지가 시작된 전날(6일) 9시57분에도 코스닥은 5분간 프로그램 매수 호가 효력을 정지하는 매수 사이드카가 발동됐다.
발동 당시 코스닥150 선물 가격은 6% 넘게 급등했고, 코스닥150 지수가 전 거래일 대비 7% 이상 치솟았다.
한편, 이날 지수 하락은 외국인 투자자들이 이끌고 있다. 외국인 투자자는 전날 코스닥시장에서 4834억원을 순매수했지만 이날 2785억원 순매도로 돌아섰다.
당초 시장에선 공매도 금지로 인한 숏커버링(환매수) 효과로 추가적 지수 상승이 있을 것이라고 봤지만 폭등 하루만에 급락세로 전환하는 등 혼조세가 이어지고 있다.
증권업계에선 전날 공매도 잔고 상위종목인 2차전지주를 중심으로 외국인 숏커버링 물량이 대거 들어오며 증시를 급등시켰으나, 숏커버링 수급이 일정부분 소화되고 차익실현 물량이 쏟아지면서 지수를 끌어내린 것으로 분석했다.
한지영 키움증권 연구원은 “공매도 금지 첫날 이차전지 대장주 뿐만 아니라 여타 이차전지주들까지 동반 급등했다"며 "그 여파로 해당 업종에서는 상당부분 숏커버링 모멘텀이 소진 됐을 수 있다"고 설명했다.
