[브레이크뉴스=주윤한 기자] 합천군은 15일 합천박물관 야외행사장에서 김윤철 합천군수, 경상남도 김현미 문화유산과장, 성종태 합천군의회 부의장, 장진영 도의원을 비롯한 기관 · 사회단체장, 합천군민 등 500여명이 참석한 가운데 ‘합천 옥전고분군 세계유산 등재 기념 행사’를 개최했다.
합천 옥전고분군은 교통의 요지인 황강변 구릉지에 위치하며 다른 가야정치체, 인근 국가들과 활발히 교류했던 모습을 잘 보여주는 고분군으로 연맹이라는 독특한 정치체계를 유지하면서 주변의 중앙 집권적 고대국가와 병존하였던 가야 문명을 실증하는 독보적인 증거다.
동아시아 고대 문명의 한 유형을 보여주는 중요한 유적임을 인정받아 세계유산으로 등재됐다.
가야고분군은 2013년 3개 고분군을 시작으로 10여 년에 걸쳐 진행됐으며 2019년 7개 고분군으로 확대됐다.
2023년 9월 24일 제45차 세계유산위원회가 열린 사우디아라비아 리야드에서 세계유산 등재가 최종 확정됐다.
이번 기념행사는 세계문화유산으로 등재된 옥전고분군의 역사적 가치를 국내외적으로 널리 홍보하고 지역주민들에게 세계문화유산에 대한 자긍심 고취 및 보존과 활용의 공감대를 형성하기 위해 마련했다.
기념행사는 축하공연, 본행사, 합천박물관 및 고분군 현장 탐방으로 구성됐다.
축하공연에는 경남심포닉밴드의 다채로운 공연과 함께 영화 서편제의 주연배우인 국악인 오정해가 출연해 늦가을의 무대를 빛냈다.
이후 합천박물관 기획전시관에서 ‘옥전고분군, 세계유산으로 나아가다’라는 주제의 기획특별전을 관람하고 세계유산으로 등재된 옥전 고분군 현장을 탐방했다.
