금융기관인 서울 강동농협(조합장=박성직)의 베트남 해외연수(12월3일-7일)에 참여했다. 지난 12월5일. 베트남 호이안 지역의 큰 대바구니 배 마을을 방문했다. 3인이 탈 수 있는 대나무로 만든 커다란 배에 관광객 2명을 싣고, 신나게 놀아주는 마을을 갔다.
아이디어 하나가 시골 오지 마을을 세계적으로 유명한 마을로 변환 시켰다.

필자는 전남 담양에서 태어났고, 집안은 농사와 대나무 공예를 겸업했다. 그런데, 왜 이런 아이디어를 창조해내지 못했을까?
베트남 호이안 큰 대바구니 배 마을 사람들의 아이디어는 참신했다. 대나무 배를 사람들이 탈 정도로 크게 만들었다. 물이 새 들어오지 않게 외부에 화학 접착제로 코팅을 했다. 그 배를 물에 띄웠다. 배에 사람들을 태워 물위를 항해하게 했다.
세계에서 찾아오는 관광객들을 이 배에 태우고 1시 간 여를 항해하며, 신나게 놀아주고, 돈을 받는 것이었다.
큰 대나무 배들은 물에서 살아가는 코코넛 나무 숲 사이를 떠다니며, 탑승자들을 즐겁게 해줬다. 한국인 관광객들을 위해서는 한국 유행가를 크게 틀어주며, 항해사들이 육성으로 노래를 해주며...흥을 돋구었다. 한마디로 신나게 했다. 즐겁게 해주는데, 신나지 않을쏘냐?
특이한 관광 상품이었다.
