최 회장은 4일 SK하이닉스 본사인 이천캠퍼스에서 SK하이닉스 곽노정 대표이사 사장 등 주요 경영진들과 함께 고대역폭메모리(HBM) 등 AI 메모리 분야 성장동력과 올해 경영방향을 점검했다. 최 회장은 참석자들과 경영시스템을 점검하고 내실 강화 방안들을 토론했다.
최 회장은 “역사적으로 없었던 최근 시장 상황을 교훈 삼아 골이 깊어지고 주기는 짧아진 사이클의 속도 변화에 맞춰 경영계획을 짜고 비즈니스 방법을 찾아야 한다”고 당부했다.
이어 “여러 관점에서 사이클과 비즈니스 예측 모델을 만들어 살펴야 한다”며 “특정 제품군만 따지지 말고 매크로 상황을 파악해야 하고 마켓도 이제 월드마켓이 아니라 분화된 시장 관점에서 살펴야 한다”고 덧붙였다.
아울러 최 회장은 AI 반도체 전략에 대해 “빅테크의 데이터센터 수요 등 고객 관점에서 투자와 경쟁상황을 이해하고 고민해야 한다”며 글로벌 시장의 이해관계자를 위한 토털 솔루션(Total Solution) 접근을 강조했다.
이천캠퍼스 방문으로 올해 첫 현장걸음을 한 최태원 회장은 다음 주 미국 라스베가스에서 열리는 세계 최대 가전 IT박람회인 ‘CES 2024’에 방문해 글로벌 시장의 AI 트렌드를 살필 예정이다. SK하이닉스는 ‘CES 2024’에서 AI 인프라의 핵심인 초고성능 메모리 제품들을 전시하며 관련 기술력을 선보인다.
한편, 최 회장은 대외활동이 많았던 지난해 9월 용인시 원삼면에 건설 중인 ‘용인 반도체 클러스터’를 방문해 공사현황을 살펴보고 구성원들을 격려했다. 용인 클러스터는 현재 본격적인 부지 조성 작업을 진행 중으로, SK하이닉스는 이 곳에 2025년 3월 첫 번째 팹을 착공하고 2027년 5월 준공해 AI 시대를 이끌어 갈 핵심기지로 성장시킬 계획이다.
