브레이크뉴스 최애리 기자= 노동진 수협중앙회장이 서해 최북단 백령도를 찾아 어업인들과의 현장 소통에 나섰다. 유가 급등 등으로 어려움을 겪는 어촌 현장의 목소리를 직접 듣고, 정주 여건 개선과 지원 대책을 점검하기 위한 행보다.
수협중앙회에 따르면, 노동진 회장을 비롯한 중앙회 및 회원조합 임직원 80여 명으로 구성된 방문단은 지난 21일 인천 백령도에서 어업 현장 간담회를 열고 어업인들의 애로사항을 청취했다.
노 회장은 이 자리에서 봄철 조업 시기를 맞았음에도 불구하고 유류비 상승으로 경영 부담이 커진 현실을 언급하며, 수협이 추진 중인 자체 지원방안과 정부 대책을 설명했다. 그는 “어업인들이 마음 놓고 조업에 전념할 수 있는 환경을 만드는 것이 수협의 가장 중요한 역할”이라며 “현장의 목소리를 지속적으로 반영해 실질적인 지원이 이뤄지도록 하겠다”고 밝혔다.
이어 수협은행의 지원을 통해 어업인 200여 가구에 총 2천만 원 상당의 생필품을 전달하며 감사의 뜻을 전했다.
노 회장은 백령도 방문 기간 중 군 장병 격려에도 나섰다. 해병대 출신인 그는 백령도에 주둔 중인 해병대 6여단을 찾아 장병들을 격려했으며, 천안함 46용사 위령탑에 헌화하고 “어업인들이 안심하고 생업에 종사할 수 있는 것은 군의 헌신 덕분”이라며 경의를 표했다.
아울러 남화영 한국전기안전공사 사장과 함께 어업인 복지회관과 어촌 주택을 방문해 노후 전기시설을 점검·교체하는 봉사활동도 진행했다. 이번 활동은 수협재단이 올해 새롭게 추진하는 민간 참여형 어촌 상생 나눔 지원 사업의 일환으로, 기업 및 단체와 협력해 어촌 환경 개선을 도모하기 위해 마련됐다.
