[브레이크뉴스=배종태 기자] 나홍진 감독의 신작 '호프(HOPE)'가 제79회 칸 국제영화제 경쟁 부문에 초청되면서, 제작 과정에 참여한 부산영화촬영스튜디오의 버추얼프로덕션 기술력이 주목받고 있다.
부산영상위원회는 '호프'가 2023년 버추얼프로덕션 제작지원사업 선정작으로, 스튜디오 측이 영화의 주요 배경인 마을 전경을 3D 모델링하는 과정에 참여했다고 밝혔다. 스튜디오는 고성능 3D 스캐너를 활용해 실제 공간을 고해상도 데이터로 변환하고, 이를 CG 제작의 기초가 되는 스캔 데이터로 제공하며 시각적 완성도를 높이는 데 기여했다.
'호프'는 한국 영화 사상 최대 규모의 제작비가 투입된 대작이다. 올해 최고 기대작으로 꼽히는 이 작품은 최근 미국 '시네마콘 2026'에서 공개된 예고편을 통해 압도적인 영상미와 특수효과를 선보이며 현지의 찬사를 이끌어낸 바 있다.
부산영화촬영스튜디오는 지난 2014년부터 '승리호', '서울의 봄' 등 총 20개 프로젝트에 첨단 제작 인프라를 지원하며 한국 영화의 기술적 도약을 뒷받침해왔다. 올해는 지원 체계를 더욱 강화해 '버추얼프로덕션&영상제작 지원사업'으로 개편 운영한다.
개편된 사업은 전국 단위의 첨단 장비 및 인력을 지원하는 '버추얼프로덕션 제작지원'과 지역 창작자를 위한 '촬영장비 제작지원'으로 이원화된다. 특히 소니 베니스, 아리 알렉사 미니 등 고사양 촬영 장비 지원 항목이 신설되어 창작 환경이 한층 개선될 전망이다.
올해 사업 공모는 오는 5월 8일 오후 6시까지 진행되며, 자세한 내용은 부산영상위원회 홈페이지를 통해 확인할 수 있다. 강성규 운영위원장은 이번 사업 개편을 통해 부산을 실감콘텐츠 산업의 핵심 거점으로 성장시키겠다는 포부를 밝혔다.

The technical capabilities of Busan Cinema Studios are in the global spotlight following the selection of Director Na Hong-jin’s new film, *HOPE*, for the Competition section of the 79th Cannes Film Festival.
The Busan Film Commission announced that *HOPE* was a beneficiary of its 2023 Virtual Production Support Program. The studio played a critical role in the film's visual development by participating in the 3D modeling of the village that serves as the story's primary setting. Utilizing high-performance 3D scanners from their XR Tech Lab, the team converted physical locations into high-resolution data, providing the essential 3D scan foundations for the film's advanced computer graphics.
*HOPE* stands as one of the most anticipated films of the year, featuring the largest production budget in Korean cinematic history. Following its official invitation to Cannes, the film is set for a North American release this September. A teaser trailer recently unveiled at CinemaCon 2026 in the United States received a standing ovation for its overwhelming scale, cinematography, and sophisticated special effects.
Since 2014, Busan Cinema Studios has supported a total of 20 projects, including box office hits such as *Space Sweepers* and *12.12: The Day*. This year, the commission is expanding its reach by restructuring the initiative into the "Virtual Production & Image Production Support Program."
The revamped program is divided into two tracks: Track I provides nationwide access to cutting-edge infrastructure like LED walls and robotic systems, while Track II offers high-end cinematography equipment, such as SONY Venice and ARRI ALEXA Mini cameras, specifically to local creators.
Applications for this year’s program are open until 6:00 PM on May 8. Kang Sung-kyu, Operating Chairman of the Busan Film Commission, stated that the commission aims to enhance the production environment for creators and establish Busan as a central hub for the immersive content industry.
