브레이크뉴스 정민우 기자= 한국마사회가 5일 시행되는 갑진년(甲辰年) 첫 경주를 앞두고 2024년도 경마시행계획을 발표했다.
2024년은 최우수 경주마 선발체계 고도화, 연 2회 야간경마 시행 등 경마의 고품질화와 축제화를 위한 과제들을 본격 추진한다.
먼저, 봄철 벚꽃축제, 가을시즌 코리아컵과 연계해 야간경마를 연 2회 시행한다. 렛츠런파크가 야간 벚꽃명소로 유명세를 타며 20만명 이상이 다녀가는 등 인기를 얻고 있는 가운데, 행사 방문객에게도 경마 참여 기회를 제공해 경마의 축제화 및 건전화에 기여하겠다는 것이다.

이 외에도 서울·부경·제주의 출전신청을 수요일 오전으로 일치시키고 6등급도 출전등록을 시행하는 등 예측가능성을 극대화해 경주 안정성을 높이고, 고객에게 경마정보를 조기에 제공한다는 방침이다.
한국마사회 김홍기 경마본부장은 “2023년은 코로나19로 인해 장기간 침체상태였던 한국경마와 말산업이 많은 고객분들의 성원에 힘입어 재도약하는 한해였다”며 “박진감 넘치는 수준 높은 레이스를 통해 국내 경마팬은 물론 해외팬들에게도 소구할 수 있는 K-스포츠로서의 한국경마를 만들어가겠다”고 말했다.
