브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 경찰이 이재명 더불어민주당 대표를 부산에서 흉기로 공격한 피의자에 대한 신상을 비공개하기로 결정했으나, 정작 외신에선 이를 모두 공개해 신상정보 비공개에 대한 실효성 논란이 일고 있다.
미국 일간지 뉴욕타임스(NYT)는 지난 3일(현지시간) '야당 지도자에 대한 칼부림 공격이 양극화된 한국 사회에 경각심을 불러 일으켰다'는 제목으로 이재명 대표의 흉기 피습 사건을 자세히 보도했다.
이 매체는 "김○○이라는 66세 공인중개사가 이재명 대표를 살해하려는 의도를 경찰 조사에서 인정했다"며 피의자의 실명을 그대로 공개했다.

박 대변인은 이어 "주변인들의 증언을 통해, 범인이 오랫동안 국민의힘 당원이었고 태극기 집회에도 다수 참여한 것으로 드러났다"며 "경찰은 왜 테러범이 국민의힘 당원 출신의 태극기 부대라는 사실을 밝히지 않나. 왜 여당과의 관련성을 숨기고 있나"라고 다그쳤다.
권칠승 수석대변인도 "경찰은 명백한 정치 테러를 일개 자영업자의 과도한 정치적 신념이 부른 단독 일탈로 축소시키고 신상조차 공개하지 못하는 이유가 무엇인지 분명하게 답해야 한다"며 "다방 연쇄살인범의 신상을 공개했다. 그런데 왜 이재명 대표를 살해하려고 한 정치테러범의 신상은 공개를 거부하고 오히려 그의 정치적 신념까지 해명해 주고 있나"라고 비판했다.
