[브레이크뉴스=양영석 기자] 김해시가 관내 대학 외국인 유학생 유치를 위해 18일 중국과 관내 3개 대학 관계자들이 참여한 가운데 간담회를 개최했다.
이날 회의에는 정효권 중국 한인협회 전 회장, 박정호 북경대경제학교 교수를 비롯한 중국 측 관계자와 인제대 장익준 국제교류차장, 김해대 고경희 부총장, 가야대 양녕박 중국어학과 교수, 김해시 장판규 인재육성사업소장이 참석했다.
간담회에서는 각 대학별 유학생 유치 규모, 지원계획 등 상호 협력방안을 논의했으며 회의에 앞서 각 대학의 강의실, 도서관, 기숙사, 어학연수센터 등을 견학했다.
이날 간담회는 홍태용 김해시장과 중국 한인협회 정효권 전 회장과의 인연으로 마련됐으며 김해시와 관내 대학들은 올해 중국인 유학생 1000명 유치라는 목표를 세웠다.
이런 가운데 김해시는 인제대 중심으로 가야대, 김해대와 함께 2024년 글로컬대학 선정에 노력 중이며 글로컬대학 실행계획에 외국인 학생 글로벌 교육이 들어 있어 이번 간담회가 가지는 의미가 크다.
김해시는 유학생 유치로 생활인구를 늘려 인구소멸 위기를 극복하는 동시에 해외 우수 인재를 유치, 지역 산업 일자리 수요를 해소하고자 한다.
이에 따라 김해시는 지난해 8월 정부의 대대적인 유학생 유치 정책 기조에 발맞춰 관내 대학과 협력해 유학생 유치부터 취업, 정주까지 지원할 수 있는 기반을 마련할 계획이다.
홍태용 시장은 “관내 대학, 기업 등과 연계해 유학생 등 우수한 해외 인재 유치에 총력을 기울이고 이들이 지역 발전에 기여하는 지역산업 맞춤형 인재가 될 수 있도록 최선을 다하겠다”고 밝혔다.
