브레이크뉴스 정민우 기자= 삼성전자가 성능과 범용성을 모두 갖춘 소비자용 SSD 신제품 ‘990 EVO’를 출시했다.
‘990 EVO’는 크리에이터, 게이머와 같은 전문가부터 일반 PC 사용자까지 폭넓은 사용자층에게 최적의 솔루션이 될 것으로 기대된다.
‘990 EVO’는 전작 ‘970 EVO Plus’ 대비 속도, 전력효율, 기술력 모두 향상됐다.
이 제품의 연속 읽기·쓰기 속도는 각각 최대 5000 MB/s, 4200 MB/s로 전작 대비 각각 43%, 30% 향상돼 대용량 파일에 빠르게 접근 가능하다. 또한, 자체 개발한 5나노 신규 컨트롤러를 소비자용 SSD에 처음 탑재해 전력 효율을 최대 70%까지 개선했다.
제품 내부 D램 탑재 없이 PC의 D램과 직접 연결하는 호스트 메모리 버퍼(Host Memory Buffer, HMB) 기술을 적용해 가격 경쟁력을 강화하고 제품 성능은 유지시켰다.
PCIe 4.0와 함께 PCIe 5.0(x 2레인)도 지원해 차세대 인터페이스에 대한 사용자의 요구를 충족시켰다.

한편, ‘990 EVO’는 1TB, 2TB 2가지 용량으로 전세계에 순차적으로 출시될 예정으로, 국내는 24일부터 판매를 시작한다.
