브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 영호남을 잇는 달빛철도특별법이 25일 국회 본회의를 통과한 것과 관련, 달빛철도의 최초 제안자인 조원진 우리공화당 대표가 환영의 입장을 밝혔다.
조원진 대표는 26일 보도자료를 통해 "2011년 국토해양부 국정감사에서 동서간 장벽 해소와 지역균형 발전을 위한 대구-광주간 광역철도망 사업을 처음 제기한 이후 무려 13년 만에 달빛철도 특별법안이 통과되어 감회가 새롭다"면서 "달빛철도가 성공적으로 건설되어 남부경제권의 활성화와 함께 동서교류와 화합 등 영호남간의 갈등해소의 마중물이 되길 기원한다"고 했다.
그는 "대구에서 광주까지 총연장 198.8km로 6개 시도와 10개 시군구를 경유하게 되는 달빛철도는 지방균형발전의 중추 역할을 할 수 있을 것"이라며 "대구와 광주가 1시간대가 되면 교통과 물류을 넘어 미래 산업 등 앞으로 엄청난 상생과 협력을 통한 지역발전을 기대할 수 있다"고 말했다.
그러면서 "지방에도 사람이 잘사는 나라가 되어야 대한민국과 미래세대에 희망이 있다. 달빛철도가 지방경제를 활성화 시키는데 크게 기여하길 희망한다"고 덧붙였다.
