윤석열 대통령이 25일 "105년 전 우리 선열들이 자유를 향한 신념·의지를 모아 3.1운동을 일으키셨다"며 "자유·번영의 미래를 향한 그 위대한 여정에 한국 교회가 있었다"고 밝혔다.
윤 대통령은 이날 오전 수원시 원천침례교회에서 열린 3·1운동 제105주년 기념 예배에 참석해 "윤 대통령은 국가·국민을 위해 기도하고 예배드렸다"며 이같이 말했다고 김수경 대통령실 대변인이 서면브리핑에서 전했다. 현직 대통령의 3·1운동 기념 예배 참석은 이번이 처음이다.
윤 대통령은 인사말에서 "글로벌 중추국가로 세계 평화·공동번영에 책임있게 기여하고 대한민국의 새로운 도약을 위해 힘쓰겠다"고 밝혔다.
그러면서 "한국 교회·성도 여러분께서 고통받는 모든 이들을 위해 기도하며 마음 모아주고 계심을 잘 알고 있다"며 "저와 정부는 더 낮은 자세로 국민 삶 가까이 다가가 한 분 한 분 손을 잡아 드리는 따뜻한 국정을 펼치겠다"고 말했다.
윤 대통령은 예배를 마친 후 공연한 어린이 선교단원들과 악수하고 단원들을 격려 후 예배 참석 성도들과도 인사하며 대화를 나눴다.
이날 예배엔 원천침례교회 김장환 원로목사·김요셉 담임목사를 비롯 성도 800여 명과 황상무 시민사회수석 등 대통령실 참모진이 참석했다.
