브레이크뉴스 정민우 기자= 한국마사회가 온라인 불법경마로 인한 피해를 예방하고 확산을 방지하기 위해 ‘제4기 국민참여 모니터링단’을 모집한다.
‘국민참여 모니터링단’은 온라인상의 불법경마사이트와 홍보게시물을 찾아내고 신고를 통해 삭제하는 활동 등을 수행한다. 선발된 단원들은 실적에 따라 소정의 포상금과 활동비가 지원된다.
코로나바이러스감염증-19 대유행으로 일상 속 온라인·비대면 문화가 자리 잡은 가운데 건전하지 못한 디지털 환경에 대한 우려의 목소리도 커지고 있다. 특히, 온라인 불법도박은 해외 서버 등을 활용해 수사망을 피하며 빠르게 확산되고 있다.
디지털 문화에 친숙한 청소년들에게까지 도박중독 등 피해를 야기하며 온라인 불법도박은 사회적 이슈가 되고 있지만 단속 인력의 한계와 점점 더 교묘한 수법으로 진화하며 그 피해는 점점 커지고 있다.
이에 한국마사회는 온라인 불법경마 확산을 저지하기 위해 2021년부터 ‘불법경마 단속 국민참여 모니터링단’을 운영해오고 있다. 국민참여 모니터링단은 지난 3년간 총 9619건의 온라인 불법 경마 단속 실적을 기록하며 불법도박 확산 방지에 기여해왔다.
국민참여 모니터링단은 건전한 경마문화 조성에 관심 있는 만 19세 이상의 대한민국 국민이라면 누구나 지원 가능하다. 모집기간은 오는 12일 18시까지다. 신청양식에 맞춰 이메일을 통해 접수할 수 있으며 모집에 대한 자세한 안내와 양식은 한국마사회 홈페이지 공지사항을 통해 확인 가능하다. 한국마사회는 접수 마감 후 공정한 심사를 거쳐 17일 모니터링단원 20명을 최종 선발할 예정이다.
선발된 단원들은 3월중 발대식을 시작으로 연말까지 불법경마사이트 및 홍보게시물 신고·삭제, 건전경마 홍보활동, 불법경마 근절을 위한 아이디어를 제안 등의 활동을 수행하게 된다. 마사회는 모니터링단의 보다 적극적인 단속활동 지원을 위해 올해부터 분기별 우수자 인센티브 상향 등 동기부여 방안을 강화할 계획이다.
마사회 송대영 경마본부장은 “급속도로 확산되는 온라인 불법경마를 예방하기 위해서는 국민들의 참여가 필요하다”며 “마사회는 국민참여 모니터링단 이외에도 불법경마단속 전담조직과 전문 인력들을 통해 다양하고 밀도 있는 단속 사업들을 추진하며 건전한 경마문화 조성에 앞장서겠다”고 말했다.
