한국·미국·인도 정부가 12일 서울에서 한·미·인 핵심신흥기술대화를 개최하고 바이오·의약품·반도체·인공지능(AI)·핵심광물 등 핵심신흥기술 상호 이해를 높이고 향후 정부·민간기업 간 협력 자리를 마련키로 했다고 대통령실이 전했다.
이번 회의는 지난해 제1차 한·미 차세대 핵심신흥기술대화때 한·미 양자 간 핵심신흥기술대화를 인도까지 포함 확대키로 합의한 데 따른 것이라고 국가안보실이 전했다.
이 자리엔 왕윤종 국가안보실 제3차장·타룬 차브라(Tarun Chhabra) 미 국가안전보장회의(NSC) 기술·국가안보 담당 선임보좌관·레칸 타카르(Lekhan Thakkar) 인도 국가안보실 사무국(NSCS) 국장이 각각 수석대표로 참석했다.
3국은 이번 회의에서 바이오·의약품·반도체 공급망·청정에너지 및 핵심광물·인공지능·우주·양자·첨단소재 등 핵심신흥기술 분야 공통 관심 사에 대한 상호 이해 제고와 함께 구체적 협력 방안을 논의했다.
또 가까운 장래에 3국 정부·민간기업이 함께 협력할 자리도 마련키로 한 동시에 올해 적절한 시점에 차기 회의를 개최해 나가기로 했다.
대통령실은 "이번 회의는 그간 미·일 위주로 진행되던 우리 핵심신흥기술 협력을 인도로 확대하는 계기를 마련한 것으로 평가된다"며 "인도는 우수 기술 인력을 보유하고 있고 제약 공급망 분야서 핵심 역할을 수행 중이며 달탐사 같은 우주 분야 연구도 선도하고 있어 인도와의 협력은 우리 핵심기술 능력을 제고하는데 기여할 걸로 기대된다"고 전했다.

The governments of Korea, the United States, and India held the Korea-U.S.-India Core Emerging Technology Dialogue in Seoul on the 12th to increase mutual understanding of core emerging technologies such as bio, pharmaceuticals, semiconductors, artificial intelligence (AI), and core minerals, and to promote future government and private enterprise.
