브레이크뉴스 최애리 기자= 한국전력공사가 올해 2분기(4~6월분) 전기요금을 동결하겠다고 21일 발표했다. 다만 200조원이 넘는 부채와 43조원의 누적 적자가 발생한 만큼, 올해 하반기에는 다시 인상할 가능성이 높아 보인다.
한전 2분기 연료비조정단가를 1분기와 동일하게 ㎾h당 5원을 계속 적용할 것이라고 밝혔다.
전기요금은 기본요금, 전력량요금, 기후환경요금, 연료비조정요금으로 구성되는데, 연료비 조정단가는 연료비 조정요금 기준이 된다.
이는 해당 분기 직전 3개월간 유연탄, 액화천연가스(LNG) 등 연료비 변동 상황을 전기요금에 탄력적으로 반영하기 위한 제도로, ㎾h당 ±5원 범위에서 결정되는데 지난 분기 기준 최대치인 +5원을 적용 중이다.
전력당국은 이외에 기본요금, 전력량요금, 기후환경요금을 인상하지 않으면서 결과적으로 2분기 전기요금은 동결됐다.
다만 업계에서는 한전이 43조원의 누적된 적자에 부채까지 200조원을 넘어선 만큼 전기요금 추가 인상이 불가피하다고 보고 있다. 오는 4월 총선 이후인 3분기부터는 전기요금을 다시금 인상하지 않겠냐는 것이다.
안덕근 산통상자원부 장관도 지난 1월 업무계획 백브리핑에서 "전기요금을 현실화해 나가는 과정 중에 있다"며 "어느 시점에 얼마만큼 올릴지가 문제인데, 올해도 상황을 봐서 현실화하는 노력들을 계속해 나갈 예정"이라고 인상 가능성을 언급한 바 있다.
