진주시 상평산업단지 노후 폐수관로 정비사업 ‘순항’

[브레이크뉴스=정철규 기자] 진주시는 상평산업단지 내 노후화된 폐수관로의 정비를 위해 총 432억원을 투입, 지난해 4월부터 정비 사업을 시작해 현재 순조롭게 진행 중이라고 11일 밝혔다.

상평산업단지 노후 폐수관로 정비사업은 폐수관로의 누수 등으로 인한 싱크홀 발생을방지하고, 시민의 안전을 위해 시행되는 사업이다.

진주시가 산업단지 내 35년 이상 된 노후관로로 인해 싱크홀이 발생함에 따라 지난 2018년부터 환경부에 건의해 한국환경공단에서 정비사업을 맡아 진행하고 있다.

시는 4월 중순부터 오는 2025년 12월말까지는 남강로 구간(김시민대교~상평산단 폐수처리장)에 대한 폐수관로 신설 및 노후 폐수관로 정비작업에 들어간다.

이에 따라 시는 남강로 구간 차량 통행량이 많은 지역으로 작업을 위해 부분적인 차로 통제가 불가피해 시민들의 협조를 당부하고 있다.
