최민호 세종시장이 7일 세종지방법원 설치법안이 국회 법사위를 통과한 것과 관련 환영의 뜻을 밝혔다.
최 시장은 이날 “세종지방법원 설치를 위한 법원설치법 개정안이 여야 합의로 국회 법제사법위원회 소위를 통과한 것을 39만 세종시민과 함께 환영 한다”고 밝히고 본회의 통과를 촉구했다.
이어 “세종지방법원 설치 관련 법안인 법원설치법은 지난 2021년 3월 발의됐으나 3년 넘게 논의되지 못하다가 이번 소위 통과로 역사적인 첫발을 떼게 되었다”면서 “특히 이번 법원설치법의 국회 법사위 소위 통과는 제21대 국회가 임기 종료를 앞두고 더는 미룰 수 없는 국가적 현안이라고 판단한 데 따른 것이어서 더욱 의미가 크다”고 설명했다.
그러면서 법안이 21대 국회 임기 종료가 임박한 시점에 논의의 급물살을 탈 수 있도록 그동안 애써주신 강준현 의원, 홍성국 의원과 김종민 22대 국회의원 당선자에게 감사의 뜻을 전했다.
앞으로 국회 법사위 전체회의, 본회의 심의 의결 절차가 남아 있기는 하지만, 국회 법제사법위원회 소위에서 여야 합의로 결단을 내린 만큼 제21대 국회 임기 내 본회의 통과가 될 것이라면서 본회의 통과에 대한 기대감을 나타냈다.
