[브레이크뉴스=정철규 기자] 진주시는 진양호 우드랜드 일원에 8억원을 투입해 목조 부속동을 건립하고 있다소 13일 밝혔다.
진양호 우드랜드는 목공체험 공간과 작품 전시 및 다양한 놀이 시설을 갖춘 서부경남의 대표 산림복지시설로 시민들에게 많은 사랑을 받고 있다.
진양호 우드랜드 부속동 건립공사는 늘어나는 방문객 수 대비 체험 공간이 부족해 공간 추가 조성의 필요성이 제기되면서 지난 4월부터 추진됐다.
부속동은 진양호 우드랜드 잔여 부지에 연면적 198.63㎡의 규모로 조성돼 인근 꿈키움동산, 진양호동물원, 소힘겨루기경기장 등 관광 인프라도 잘 구축돼 있다.
진양호 우드랜드는 이번 부속동 건립과 함께 더욱 다양한 목재체험 프로그램을 개발해 이용 만족도를 높일 계획이다.
진양호 우드랜드 부속동은 오는 10월 완공 예정이며, 준공 후 친환경 목공예품 및 한지 공예전시 등 확장된 전시 운영 계획을 추진해 시민들에게 개방할 예정이다.
진주시 관계자는 “추가 체험공간 확충을 통해 시민들의 관심과 기대에 부응하는 목재문화 전시·체험관이 될 수 있도록 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.
