대통령실이 16일 "한·캄보디아 정상회담에서 캄보디아 측이 한국 기업만을 위한 특별경제구역(SEZ·Special Economic Zone) 설정 계획을 제안해 왔다"고 밝혔다.
김태효 국가안보실 제1차장은 이날 오후 용산 대통령실 브리핑에서 "한국 자동차·전자 관련 기업들이 활발히 투자하면서 마음껏 캄보디아서 활동할 수 있도록 계획을 세워보잔 제안"이라며 이같이 전했다.
향후 양국은 주캄보디아 한국대사관과 캄보디아 투자 총괄 주무 기관 캄보디아 개발위원회가 파트너가 되는 정례협의체를 신설해 SEZ 구상을 구체화할 계획이다.
김 차장은 "이 협의체를 통해 SEZ를 어떻게 계획하고 준비할지 논의도 가능할 것"이라며 "특히 현지 한국 기업 진출 여건을 개선하고 관련 문제를 신속히 해결하는 창구 역할을 할 걸로 기대한다"고 말했다.
또 양국은 인프라 협력 분야 대외경제협력기금(EDCF) 공여기간을 연장하고 규모도 늘리기로 한 가운데 기간은 기존 2022~2026년에서 2022~2030년으로 늘어나며 금액은 15억불에서 30억불로 확대된다.
김 차장은 "이를 사용해 한국 기업이 캄보디아 더 넓은 운동장에서 뛰고 투자하고 개발하고 연구해 기회·일자리산업 성장에 더 큰 공간이 만들어질 것"이라고 전망했다.
