충남도의회 조길연 의장이 지난 27일 전남 순천시에서 개최된 대한민국시도의회의장협의회는 2024년도 제3차 임시회에 참석해 운영위원장협의회 개최 결과 등 4개 안건을 보고받고, 총 24개 안건을 심의했다.
이번 임시회에서 충남도의회는 ‘개인형 이동장치의 안전 및 편의 증진에 관한 법률’의 제정을 촉구하는 건의안을 제출했다.
공유형 전동킥보드 서비스 확산과 개인형 이동장치 이용자가 급증하며, 2022년에만 전국적으로 2,386건의 사고가 발생하고 26명이 사망하는 등 이용자와 보행자의 안전을 위한 종합 대책이 절실한 상황이다.
「개인형 이동장치의 안전 및 편의 증진에 관한 법률」이 시행된다면 이동장치의 무단 방치, 공유 전동킥보드 업체의 허술한 면허 인증, 위반자에 대한 단속의 한계를 해결함은 물론, 무면허 청소년들의 무분별한 이용 및 교통사고 유발 등의 안전 문제가 해결되어 특히 노약자의 안전한 통행을 보장할 것으로 기대된다.
