[브레이크뉴스=정철규 기자] 진주시는 진주남강유등축제의 시민참여 프로그램인‘소망 등(等) 달기’신청을 시작으로 본격적인 축제 준비에 들어갔다.

‘소망 등(燈) 달기’는 임진왜란 당시 진주성을 지킨 7만 민·관·군의 충절의 혼을 달래고 그들의 얼을 기리기 위해 소망등을 달아 ‘진주성 전투 역사의 현장’을 환하게 밝힌 것에서 유래됐다.

소망등 달기는 시민 및 관광객이 각자의 소망을 적은 문구를 등(燈)에 부착하고 소원을 비는 행사로, 오는 10월 5일부터 20일까지 망경동 남강둔치 일원 소망등 터널에 전시된다.

진주시 관계자는 “대한민국 명예 문화관광축제인 진주남강유등축제의 소망 등 달기 행사를 통해 소망을 기원한다”며“시민과 관광객이 함께 만들어가는 축제 분위기 조성을 위해 많은 동참을 바란다”고 말했다.
