한수원, 부안 수전해 기반 수소생산기지 착공

【브레이크뉴스 경주】박희경 기자=한국수력원자력(사장 황주호, 이하 한수원)은 30일 전북 부안 신재생에너지테마파크 내 건설현장에서‘전북 부안 수전해 기반 수소생산기지 구축 사업’ 착공식을 개최했다.

이날 착공식에는 윤상조 한수원 그린사업본부장, 김종훈 전북특별자치도 경제부지사, 권익현 부안군수를 비롯한 주요 관계자와 지역주민 등 60여 명이 참석했다.

수전해 기반 수소생산기지는 전기로 물을 분해해 수소를 생산, 저장, 출하하는 설비로, 국내에서 상업용으로 수전해 기반 수소생산기지를 구축하는 것은 이번이최초다. 부안 수소생산기지는 2.5MW의 수전해 설비로 하루 1톤이상의 수소를 생산할 수 있으며, 수전해 기반 수소 생산설비로는 국내 최대 규모다.

산업통상자원부는 전국에 수소 공급망을 구축하고, 모빌리티에 필요한 수소를 수요처 인근에서 공급하기 위해 수소생산기지 구축 사업을 추진하고 있으며, 2022년 6월 전북 부안이 제1호 사업지로 선정됐다.

이번 사업에는 한수원을 비롯해 전북특별자치도, 부안군, 전북테크노파크, 현대건설, 테크로스 워터앤에너지, 테크로스 환경서비스가 참여한다.

윤상조 한수원 그린사업본부장은 “국내 최초로 구축되는 상업용 수전해 기반 수소생산기지 구축 사업은 전북 내 수소 밸류체인 강화는 물론, 탄소중립 대한민국을 실현하는 데 중요한 역할을 할 것으로 기대한다”며, “사업의 성공을 위해 정부 및 참여 기업들과 긴밀히 협조하겠다”고 밝혔다.

The water electrolysis-based hydrogen production base is a facility that produces, stores, and ships hydrogen by splitting water with electricity. This is the first time that a water electrolysis-based hydrogen production base is being built for commercial use in Korea. Buan Hydrogen Production Base can produce more than 1 ton of hydrogen per day with a 2.5MW water electrolysis facility, and is the largest water electrolysis-based hydrogen production facility in Korea.

The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy is promoting a project to build a hydrogen production base to build a hydrogen supply chain across the country and supply hydrogen needed for mobility near demand, and Buan, Jeollabuk-do was selected as the first business site in June 2022.

Participating in this project are Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power, Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province, Buan-gun, Jeonbuk Techno Park, Hyundai Engineering & Construction, Techcross Water & Energy, and Techcross Environmental Services.

Sang-jo Yoon, head of the Green Business Division at KHNP, said, “The project to build Korea’s first commercial water electrolysis-based hydrogen production base is expected to play an important role in strengthening the hydrogen value chain in Jeonbuk as well as realizing a carbon-neutral Republic of Korea.” “We will cooperate closely with the government and participating companies to ensure success,” he said.
