[브레이크뉴스=양영석 기자] 의령군이 내년 홍의장군축제 50회를 기념해 '제15회 의병의 날' 국가기념식 행사를 의령에서 개최한다고 밝혔다.
'의병의 날'은 임진왜란이 일어난 1592년 당시 의령에서 의병을 처음 일으킨 음력 4월 22일을 양력으로 환산한 6월 1일로 2010년 국가기념일 지정에 의령군민들이 앞장선 공로로 2011년 제1회 의병의 날 기념식이 의령군에서 거행했다.
의령군은 내년 '홍의장군축제' 50회를 맞아 전국 최대 의병 축제 개최를 예고하며 반세기 동안 의령군이 지켜온 의병정신을 전 국민에게 알려 나간다는 포부다.
군은 홍의장군축제를 통해 '의병'이 과거만의 역사가 아닌 지금 우리에게 필요한 시대정신으로 삼고 '의병의 가치'를 전파하고 있다.
특히 위기 앞에 의연히 일어선 희생정신과 '정의와 공동체'라는 목표를 위해 모두를 끌어안은 의병들의 통합과 화합의 정신을 일깨우고 있다.
오태완 군수는 "작은 자치단체 의령군이 독자적으로 추진해 결실까지 반세기 세월을 노력해 만든 것이 바로 의병의 날"이라며 "의병정신의 시작과 끝, 이것은 분명한 우리만의 자부심"이라고 강조했다.
그러면서 "내년 홍의장군축제 50회 기념 국가기념일 행사를 기점으로 의령군이 만들어 가는 의병정신은 또다시 국민들에게 새로운 자긍심을 불러일으킬 것"이라고 덧붙였다.
