윤석열 대통령이 15일 제1연평해전 승전일을 맞아 "25년 전 역사는 평화는 강한 힘으로 지킬 수 있다는 사실을 우리에게 다시 한 번 일깨워주고 있다"고 밝혔다.
중앙아시아 3국 국빈 순방 마지막 방문국 우즈베키스탄을 방문한 윤 대통령은 이날 오전(현지시간) 페이스북 메시지를 통해 "오늘은 제1연평해전 승전 25주년"이라며 이같이 적었다.
그러면서 "1999년 6월 15일 NLL(북방한계선)을 침범한 북한 경비정이 우리 고속정에 선제 기습공격을 가하면서 교전이 시작됐고, 우리 해군은 용감히 맞서 북한 경비정을 압도적으로 격퇴했다"고 적었다.
또 "대한민국 국군통수권자로서 확고한 대비태세를 유지해 국민 생명·안전을 반드시 지켜낼 것을 약속드린다"며 "우리 영웅들과 함께 더 강한 대한민국을 반드시 만들겠다"고 강조했다.
더불어 "지금 이 순간에도 국토방위에 헌신하고 있는 군 장병 여러분 노고에 깊이 감사드린다"고 덧붙였다.
