브레이크뉴스 정민우 기자= KT는 이상고온 현상으로 발생되는 폭우에 대비해 전국 8만8820개소의 통신 시설에 대한 ‘종합 안전 점검’을 5월 1일부터 약 40일간 KT그룹 차원에서 진행했다고 밝혔다.
지난달 기상청은 올해 이상고온 현상으로 서태평양, 인도양 및 대서양의 해수면 온도가 상승해 기록적인 폭우가 내릴 것으로 전망했다. 올 여름 기온이 평년보다 높은 확률은 50%, 강수량이 평년보다 많을 확률은 80%로 내다봤다.
KT가 선정한 종합 안전 점검 대상은 통신 장비가 집중된 통신 국사를 비롯해 외부에 있는 기지국, 통신구, 통신주, 철탑과 같은 시설이다. KT 외에도 KT MOS 북부와 남부, KT텔레캅과 KT에스테이트가 이번 점검 활동에 참여한다.
