(사)한국커피협회는 6월21일 보도자료에서 “(사)한국커피협회는 지난 15일 필리핀 바기오에 위치한 JIC어학원에서 G-ACP(지어쎕, Global Advanced Coffee Program) 자격증 설명회를 가졌다”고 밝혔다.
이 자료에서 “국내 바리스타 커피 교육을 선도하며 올바른 커피 문화 보급을 위해 힘쓰고 있는 (사)한국커피협회는 베트남 지부 설립에 이어 필리핀 진출에 나선다”면서 “필리핀 바기오 JIC어학원에서 진행된 설명회는 기존의 바리스타 업무 교육에서 벗어나 커피 산업 전반에 걸친 인적자원을 양성하는 프로그램인 G-ACP을 소개했다. G-ACP 자격증은 커피 바리스타, 커피 그레이더, 커피 로스팅 디렉터, 커피 비즈니스 컨설턴트 4개의 직무 세분류로 구성되어 있으며, 커피 농장 관련 지식부터 커피 로스팅, 추출을 비롯하여 커피의 향미평가, 매장 운영∙관리까지 아우르는 것이 특징”이라고 덧붙였다.
코로나로 잠시 주춤했던 어학연수 시장이 최근 다시 활기를 띠며, 개인 니즈에 맞춘 다양한 프로그램들이 생겨나고 있다. 비즈니스 영어 클래스, 시니어 프로그램, 가족연수 프로그램 등을 선보이고 있으며, 바리스타 어학 코스까지 등장했다.
JIC어학원 임보혁 원장은 “한국 학생뿐 아니라 일본, 대만 학생들 사이에서 워킹홀리데이 수요가 상당하다”라며 “어학과 함께 바리스타 교육까지 겸비한다면 워킹홀리데이를 준비하는 이들에게 큰 도움이 될 것”이라고 말했다.
(사)한국커피협회 추영민 이사는 “필리핀에도 스페셜티 커피 문화가 시작되고 있다”라며 “G-ACP 자격증 필리핀 진출을 통해 현지 커피 문화 발전에 기여할 수 있기를 기대한다”고 말했다.
(사)한국커피협회와의 협업을 통한 바리스타 어학 프로그램은 JIC어학원 내에 위치한 커피숍 ‘터미널 에스프레소 하우스’에서 진행될 예정이며 추후 세부, 클라크 지역으로도 확장을 계획 중이다.
