사단법인 대한합기도총협회는 8월27일 보도자료에서 “사단법인 대한합기도총협회는 대한민국 무도의 대통합과 한민족의 통일을 염원하는 마음을 담아 '2024 한민족 통일기원 전국 전통무예한마당’을 10월 27일 영등포 다목적배드민턴체육관에서 개최한다”고 밝혔다.
이 자료에 따르면, ‘한민족 통일기원 전국 전통무예 한마당’은 낙법, 스피드발차기, 격파, 호신술, 맨손형(품새), 무기형, 겨루기, 종합단체연무, 왕중왕 등 총 9가지 종목에서 참가 신청자를 대상으로 경합을 벌이는 종합 무예 대회로, 9년 째 명맥을 이어오고 있는 전통 있는 무예 대회다. 우수지도자에게는 대회장인 김민석 국회의원의 표창장을 수여하며, 최우수선수에게는 무도 인재 양성을 위한 장학금 등도 지급한다.
이어 “올해도 역시 10명 이상이 참가하는 도장을 대상으로 경쟁하는 종합시상 부문 1위 팀에 '문화체육관광부 장관상' 수상 혜택이 있다. 뿐만 아니라, 종합 1위부터 3위까지의 도장에게는 우승컵과 함께 다양한 시상품을 제공할 계획. 종목별 순위배점의 기준은 1위(10점), 2위(6점), 3위(3점)이며, 종합단체연무 순위배점 기준은 1위(50점), 2위(40점), 3위(30점), 4위(20점)으로 진행한다.
대회는 전통무예(무도) 통합단체 소속 수련생이라면 누구나 참가 가능하고 개인 혹은 도장 단체로 신청할 수 있다. 각 부문 1위부터 3위 입상자에게는 상장과 메달을 수여하며, 특히 길이낙법 종목에서는 조별 1위 입상자들을 대상으로 왕중왕전까지 펼치는데, 왕중왕전 우승 시 대회 후원사의 고급 삼품 등 추가적인 시상이 제공된다. 올해는 사전 행사로 9월 28일, '2024 대한합기도총협회 호신술 강습회'까지 개최하여 무도의 정신과 기술을 더욱 더 전파할 예정이다.
대회를 총괄하는 황용의 대한합기도총협회 회장은 "올해도 영등포구 다목적 배드민턴체육관에서 지역 체육 활성화와 한민족의 혼과 정신이 깃든 전통무예의 화합을 통한 한민족 통일기원의 대회를 이어갈 수 있게 되어 매우 기쁘다"며 "영등포구에서 3회 연속으로 진행되는 대회인 만큼, 모두가 좀 더 즐길 수 있는 축제와 같은 대회가 될 수 있도록 노력하겠다"고 강조했다.
