브레이크뉴스 문홍철 기자= 현대자동차그룹은 국내 3대 신용평가사인 ‘한국신용평가’가 현대차와 기아의 신용등급을 기존 ‘AA+’에서 최고 등급인 ‘AAA’로 상향했다고 11일 밝혔다. 신용등급 전망은 ‘안정적(Stable)’으로 제시했다.
이는 올해 세계 3대 신용평가기관인 무디스(Moody’s), 스탠더드 앤드 푸어스(Standard & Poor’s, S&P), 피치(Fitch)로부터 신용등급 ‘A’를 받은 것에 이은 쾌거로, 현대차·기아의 제품 및 브랜드 경쟁력, 수익성 및 재무건전성 등이 높게 평가받은 것을 의미한다.
이번에 현대차와 기아가 받은 AAA 등급은 19개로 이뤄진 한국신용평가의 신용등급 체계상 가장 높은 등급으로 전반적인 채무 상환 능력이 최고 수준임을 의미한다.
한국신용평가는 “현대차와 기아가 국내 시장에서의 확고한 시장지위와 개선된 제품경쟁력 및 브랜드인지도를 바탕으로 글로벌 완성차 시장 내 입지를 공고히 하고 있다”며 “내연기관차, 하이브리드차, 전기차 등 다양한 시장수요에 대처 가능한 기술과 생산역량이 업계 최상위 수준이며 지속적인 투자로 시장 변화 대응력이 더욱 강화될 수 있을 것이고”고 설명했다.
현대차그룹 관계자는 “최근 글로벌 3대 신용평가기관으로부터 신용등급 ‘A’를 받은 것에 이어 국내 대표 신용평가사의 신용등급도 최고 등급을 받은 것은 현대차·기아의 재무 건전성과 시장 경쟁력이 높게 평가받고 있음을 의미한다”며 “앞으로도 재무 건전성과 수익성을 지속적으로 강화해 안정적인 경영 환경을 유지해 나갈 것이다”고 말했다.
한편, 현대차는 지난 4월 나이스신용평가로부터 최고 신용 등급 ‘AAA’를 받아 국내 3대 신용평가사(한국신용평가, 나이스신용평가, 한국기업평가) 중 2개사로부터 최고 신용 등급을 획득했다.
