진주혜광학교, 이전추진위원회 발대식 개최

[브레이크뉴스=정철규 기자] 진주혜광학교 이전추진위원회(위원장·허한영)는 23일 진주시장애인문화체육센터에서 발대식을 개최하고, 교육환경 개선을 위한 학교 이전 추진에 나섰다.

이번 발대식은 서부경남 최초로 중증장애 학생을 위해 설립된 진주혜광학교의 노후화된 교육시설이 학생들의 건강과 안전을 위협한다는 지역사회의 여론에 따라 진행됐다.

위원회는 지역 주민의 관심을 모으고 합리적인 논의의 장을 마련해 학교 이전을 위한 계획을 추진할 예정이다.

정대영 진주혜광학교 운영위원장은 “현재 학교는 1982년에 신축돼 학교 환경은 매우 열악하다”며 “지역사회가 함께 고민하고 해결해야 할 문제다”고 전했다.

허한영 위원장은 “학교의 규모가 커지면서 새로운 건물과 시설이 필요하다”며“경남교육청과 경남도의회 등 관계기관과 협력해 다양한 방안을 모색할 계획”이라고 말했다.

경남도의회 정재욱 의원은 “내년부터 고교학점제가 본격 운영되면 학생들의 수시 이동이 불가피하다”며“협소한 이동통로는 학습권을 보장하기 어렵다”고 지적했다.
