[브레이크뉴스경기남부=화성 이현준기자] 화성시는 ‘2024년 시민배심원 1차 회의’를 개최했다.
26일 유앤아이센터 세미나실에서 민선8기 공약 이행사항 점검 및 공약 조정안건 심의를 위해 시민배심원 회의를 열었다.
시민배심원제는 시민이 직접 참여해 공약이행 현황을 점검하고 평가하는 제도로 공약이행 과정의 객관성과 신뢰성을 높일 뿐만 아니라 주민소통의 새로운 방향을 제시하는 제도이다.
시는 한국매니페스토실천본부와 함께 18세 이상 화성시민을 대상으로 ARS 무작위 추첨 및 전화 면접을 통해 성별·나이·지역을 고려한 35명의 시민배심원을 최종 선발했다.
시민배심원단은 이날 첫 회의를 시작으로 다음 달 21일까지 총 3회에 걸쳐 시의 여건 및 정책변화 등에 따라 공약사업의 조정이 필요한 부분에 대해 심도 있는 토론 및 안건 심의를 진행할 예정이다.
이날 회의는 △시민배심원 위촉 △매니페스토 운동과 시민배심원에 대한 교육 △분임 구성 및 토의 등으로 진행됐다.
박형일 기획조정실장은 “시정에 대한 시민들의 적극적인 참여와 관심 덕분에 화성시가 내년에 전국 5번째 특례시로 발돋움할 수 있게됐다”며 “공약은 시민과의 약속인 만큼, 시민의 눈높이에 맞는 완성도 있는 공약 이행을 위해 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.
한편 화성시는 시민배심원 회의 과정 및 결과를 오는 12월 중 화성시 누리집에 공개해 시민과의 소통을 계속해서 이어 나갈 예정이다.
