[브레이크뉴스경기남부=시흥 이현준기자] 시흥시는 유튜브 '시흥농아방송'을 통해 수어 방송을 시작했다.
시흥농아방송은 (사)한국농아인협회 시흥시지회에서 제작해 지난 9월 11일부터 송출됐으며, 각종 시정뉴스와 장애인을 위한 복지 정보를 중심으로 구성했다.
자막과 수어가 없는 비장애인 중심의 매체로 인해 한정적인 정보를 접할 수밖에 없었던 관내 청각장애인들은 이번 수어 방송 소식을 크게 환영했다.
한 청각장애인은 “그동안 정보를 몰라 신청하지 못했던 복지혜택을 수어 방송을 보며 알게 돼 매우 기쁘다. 주변의 청각장애인들에게도 이 소식을 알려 함께 혜택을 신청할 계획이다”라고 말했다.
임병택 시흥시장은 “시흥시가 2023년 장애공감 도시로 선정된 이후 많은 변화가 일어났다. 수어 방송, 장애인 재활교육 등은 장애인이 자립할 수 있는 기반을 마련하는 데 큰 역할을 하고 있다. 앞으로 비장애인과 장애인이 평등하게 함께 살아가는 도시가 되기를 기대한다”라며 소감을 전했다.
수어 방송은 유튜브 ‘시흥농아방송’에서 월 2회 송출되며, 시흥시농아인협회 누리집과 페이스북에서도 시청할 수 있다.
