시흥시, ‘2024 우리시대 장인전(展)’ 연다

[브레이크뉴스경기남부=시흥 이현준기자] 시흥시가 10월 22일부터 11월 10일까지 약 3주간(매주 월요일 휴관) SNU 배곧아트큐브에서 하반기 기획전시 ‘2024 우리시대 장인전(展)’을 개최한다.

이번 전시는 시흥시를 기반으로 시대의 속도가 아닌 자신만의 속도로 독창적인 작품 세계를 만들어 가는 3명의 문화예술장인의 삶과 작품의 이야기를 한주씩 릴레이 형식으로 선보인다. 전시에 참여하는 장인들은 임선빈(북 메우기), 오평숙(옻칠), 김이랑(짚풀) 씨다.

특히 이번 전시는 시흥시 문화예술장인 3인과 시흥시 청년예술가들이 만나 보는 행위를 넘어 듣고 경험하는 차원까지 감각을 확장할 수 있게 기획됐다. 장인들의 삶과 작품을 입체적으로 경험할 수 있도록 장인 방의 소리를 청년 예술가들이 현대적으로 재해석하고 장인의 보물 이야기를 통해 장인의 삶과 작품을 깊이 있게 경험할 수 있도록 할 예정이다.

먼저 전시의 시작을 여는 ▲북 메우기 장인 임선빈(74세, 과림동) 씨는 66년간 북 만드는 일을 이어가고 있는 국내 대표 북 메우기 장인으로, 2022년 국가무형문화재 악기장(북 메우기)으로 인정됐다. 1988 서울 올림픽 기념 대북 제작과 청와대 춘추관 대북 제작 등에 참여했으며 선천적인 소아마비로 인해 한쪽 다리가 불편함에도 열정적으로 작품 활동을 이어가고 있다.
