이날 간담회에는 한국에서 권기식 한중도시우호협회장과 유경현 헌정회 원로회 의장(전 헌정회장)과 한화갑 전 평화민주당 대표, 신중식 헌정회 대변인, 배기선 김대중 재단 사무총장, 남궁진 전문화체육부 장관, 김동주ㆍ임인배 전 의원, 한중도시우호협회 임원단 등이 참석했으며, 중국에서는 왕얼청 정협 상무위원(장관급)과 뤈청파(阮成發) 정협 상무위원(장관급), 홍지에(洪杰) 정협위원(차관급) 등이 참석했다.
이학영 국회부의장과 정성호 의원은 국감 관계로 간담회에 불참해 아쉽다며 축전을 보내 행사를 격려했다.
권기식 회장은 "한중 관계는 1992년 수교 이후 세계 경제성장의 견인차이자 동아시아 평화와 번영의 중심축이 역할을 해왔다"며 "이번 정협 대표단의 한국 방문은 한중 관계의 발전과 양국 우호에 큰 도움이 될 것"이라고 말했다.
유경현 의장은 "중국인민정치협상회의 방문단의 국회 방문을 환영한다"며 "헌정회는 500여명의 전직 의원들이 중국을 방문하는 등 한중 우호를 위해 노력하고 있다"고 말했다.
왕얼청 상무위원은 "중국은 우호의 상징으로 판다를 한국에 보냈다"며 "한중 우호를 위해 함께 노력하자"고 화답했다.
중국인민정치협상회의는 전국인민대표대회와 함께 중국의 양대 대의기관이자 최고 자문기구이며, 당 중앙상무위원인 왕후닝(王滬寧) 주석이 이끌고 있다.
